  • Hi, I’m Caroline. I’m 55 years old and am peri menopausal, and I’m suffering badly.

i started the menopause in my 30’s and was put on HRT for 15 years, I came off it in my mid 40’s and then started going through the menopause, dreadful periods and flushes, I haven’t had a period since August and before then I went ten months without one, but the night seats are horrendous and my mental health is suffering too, not to mention the insomnia.

iv joined the group as I think I’m going insane, my marriage is suffering and I just wanted a bit of support to say I’m not alone.

    Hi @annmarieashton

I was just wondering how you are doing? Also wondering how you are finding the community?

I saw you posted another question yesterday. Having any operation is a daunting process, but when it is cancer related it is natural to feel even more anxious about things. I am sorry you don't have your mother around for support, but I hope you are able to speak with others.

Are you in the UK or somewhere else?

Wherever you are, it is very likely there is some sort of Cancer support group available to you.

As for side-effects of surgery, well this all depends on your personal circumstances and details of the cancer you have, and any further treatment you may be having.

The surgeon and breast care team will advise you of what will happen post-surgery, if you have not been informed I encourage you to make an appointment as soon as possible.

Recovering from surgery is very dependant on you and your state of health, it is different for everyone. There are some similarities between breast cancer patients, but not exact.

If you would like to talk about any of this, feel free to ask or chat. You can do this also by going back to the questions you posted, and you will see any replies people have posted.

  • Hi Lou

Fancy you in a school too ! I been there 30years ! I know most of students parents 😁on that must have been tough when exams starting. My son's are married and 1 has 2 gorgeous boys. My Daugherty single after 10 year relationship. She has been great but I know it's a strain the worry. It's not just us it's out families too.

I can't believe this weather this week ! I have never liked the heat but like spring and autumn. My friends laugh at me over it. Still my skin is good for my age 😁 if I feel ok later my sister picking me up to go TK Max Dunelm and a coffee th his morning.

I was very lucky 2 medical friends told me the best anti sickness to ask for and it's bean so helpful as I was so I'll first chemo. I do have to also take laxatives mind !! I know it's all cost so I guess of cheaper ones help some they give them.

Are you still undergoing any treatment ? I can understand you not in a class situation as school is so tough these days in all age groups.

    Speak soon.MadiMaddMadder x

Hi Barbara, I'm not sure if this is right, is this your wall??
      I hope so!
Thanks for your msg, I am glad your husband sorted your hair out for you, bless you. You are amazing, you know that right?
Looking like a thug sounds better than looking like Gollum! haha, that's what I looked like. I remember saying that to my chemo nurse one trip, and she spat out her coffee laughing. We used to have good fun down at the chemo ward, we were always laughing.
You will not frighten anyone! not at the hospital especially. Wear one of your hats or scarves. Have you figured out a way to wear them? It took me ages! I don't think I ever got it right! 🤣
