Do I have the menopause and should I take clonidine hydrochloride

the doctor says I have the menopause without any blood tests and put me on medication; Clonidine Hydrochloride. Does this sound correct

A blood test would be useful to see how far into the menopause you are but most GP,s state blood test inconclusive therefore go by symptoms alone 🙄 I had my levels completed and my ostreogen was low, hence now on hormone patches and resolved all my symptoms of menopause.

    Hope this helps

    Hello @dlt

Welcome to you! Without a bit more information, it's a little tricky to answer your question.

Women over 45 years old, with menopause symptoms, don't require blood tests for doctors to prescribe HRT or other medication to treat those symptoms. Blood tests can be unreliable because of the huge hormone fluctuations during this period.

Clonidine can be used to treat menopause symptoms, so from that perspective, yes that sounds correct! 😊
