When is the best time of day to take hrt?

I've just picked up my prescription of Lenzetto oestrogen gel and utrogestan. Just wondering if there is a better time of day to apply the oestrogen and also to take the progesterone when I start those tablets. Many thanks for any advice.

Thank you @MonicaM for including in here.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for writing in.

I'm glad you have been prescribed HRT.

I can't discuss how to take your prescribed medications as your GP should have explained this.

I would suggest if you can't get through to your GP, go into your pharmacy and ask them ( they will have your prescription). On the packets, bottles etc there should be clear instructions on and when to take/use your HRT, is it there?

Don't take Utrogestan in the day, as it can make you sleepy.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes

    Dear @Toots_K

Thank you for asking a very practical question.

I do definitely agree with @DianePorterfield-Bourne to check with your GP when to use both products based on your specific case.

In general, both the Lenzetto spray and the Utrogestan pessaries are usually applied in the evening so as to keep your daily routine simple.

    Kind regards,

Thank you @DianePorterfield-Bourne and @Giada Frontino for your replies. My pharmacist has been unable to offer any information and I have left a message for my gp, but so far have had no response. I have never met this gp, and was prescribed hrt after a 5 minute phone conversation...The utrogestan packet information was quite clear, to take the tablets before bed, on an empty stomach, so that makes sense. The Lenzetto spray does not have any info on when to take, but is it ok to take the Lenzetto in the morning if I'm taking the utrogestan at night, or is it necessary to take them at the same time? Many thanks.

Thank you for getting back to us. Your pharmacist really should have advised you as they deal with queries regarding medications dispensed.

I advise women that oestrogen gel or lenzetto spray can be applied anytime however I normally suggest in the morning. It's about getting into a routine and taking/using your HRT approx. the same times each day.

I hope your GP can clarify how and when they want you to use your HRT. Utrogestan can cause drowsiness; please do not take this in the day.

    Best wishes
