Thank you! I'd love to know how everyone copes on the relationships front. I just don't know how to talk to my partner about the menopause. I have no idea how to bring it up and I don't want him to think I'm making excuses. For example the other day we had an argument over something totally unimportant, I just had a really bad day and was super irritated. I know it's the hormones...but still. Do you get me? Thanks, Mary

Hi Mary,
This may help with menopause as a couple. It is hard to talk to your partner about menopause at times. I have talked to my husband about it he gets it but of course he truly won't understand it all because he isn't going through the change. It does cause issues with the intimacy and sex in our relationship. I hope to find some relief soon so that we can have a decent sex life together. My husband is very supportive but I still feel badly because I would like for my sex drive to come back and it hasn't so far.
Here is an article that I found that maybe helpful.
@Mary78
Thank you for posting and many women will be able to relate to this.
Talking to men/partners about menopause can be really difficult. I have actually provided "couples talks" to menopausal women as they can't really explain how they are feeling. Some men I have spoken to feel that women are " putting it on" or exaggerating how they are feeling. But we know that is not the case.
I would try and approach the subject by saying this is a subject you have been reading about...and its recognised women find it difficult talking to partners about menopause.
The most important message to get across is that you are being controlled by your hormones. Your moods can be so up and down....you really are at their mercy. Say that the fluctuations in your hormones make you feel like.....That there are over 30 symptoms of menopause and it causes the physical symptoms but also it rocks your confidence and increases anxiety.
That in order to help yourself you are finding out more about menopause and will talk to your GP.
Something like this...
I hope this helps; well a bit anyway.
If you are in the UK there is a programme on TV about menopause this Wednesday. Maybe watch it together? Just a thought.
We are here to support you.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes

How do you loose weight on menopause?
How do you stay focus at work? I seem to go in and out of focus when I am at work. My mind tends to focus on other things that aren't work related.
That is great advice from @DianePorterfield-Bourne for many women who should certainly never feel alone in this.

Dear @MonicaM
Managing our weight throughout perimenopause and menopause is a great theme, as all women experience a shift in their metabolism and also in the ratio of muscle mass/body fat. This comes naturally and gradually from around our 40s and requires more loving attention inwards to our health, in terms of better nutrition and regular aerobic physical activity. Research confirms the key to weight loss in menopause is keeping regular aerobic physical activity. Done regularly, this will also directly improve our attention span and mood.
Kind regards,
