    Hi @EveyAmeryKurlander

    I've got my son's wedding coming up at the end of June. What is the best shape dress for somebody that is apple shaped, will keep me cool and look amazing ? I also can't wear heels due to previous surgery on my foot, it's now fused at the ankle so I don't have much movement in it.

    Hello Julie,

    Firstly huge congratulations to you, and so exciting :)

    May I ask if the wedding will be in this country, or if it is abroad, what will the climate be like ?

    Dresses that work well for Apple Shapes are those that have fabric falling away from the tummy area, and another question to ask if you don't mind is do you like Maxi or Midi Length ?Once I have a little more information I can then answer in more detail.

    Hello Evey

    I have been premenopausal for a number of years now, but lost my waistline about 5 years ago and I struggle trying to find clothing that firstly suits me, is comfortable and that I am happy to even be seen in.

    I am 55 years old and work full time as a PA in London and it is important for me to look smart. My signature style is that I have mainly worn smart dresses to work for a number of years. I used to wear suits both trousers and skirts but find i can no longer wear this type of clothing as i have no waist.

    I do have an ample bosom (did know to phrase that), my middle age spread starts directly below my breasts.

    I have tried on so many clothes from many different retailers and cannot seem to find anything.

    I am so low within myself, but put on a good show at work as it is important.

    Any suggestions you have will be great.

    Hello Michelle,

    Firstly thank you for reaching out as it isn’t always easy to ask for tips when it comes to our wardrobe , it is a very personal and often emotive subject . I love that you are blessed with your girls, and I would always suggest to my ladies to highlight their assets in a subtle style :)

    The first style that comes to mind is the wrap dress which fits and flatters so many body shapes and is an iconic shape to wear.

    I would suggest a wrap dress with a self tie waist to enhance your waist line , cross over around the bust to showcase the girls , which will also lend itself to an open neckline at the same time.

    A second option is to try an A-line skirt which again will nip you in at the waist , and then skims over the hips. Opt for the length to hit just below the knee creating the illusion of an hourglass silhouette, this being a silhouette that many of us strive to achieve.

    Team the skirt with either a fitted or tailored blouse, and tuck inside the waistband of the skirt to balance your proportions .

    Hello Every

    I do have a few wrap over dresses it is just that they no longer fit me around the area below my girls lol. I will just have to try on a bigger size than what I currently have and see how they look.

    I will try the A line skirts with a blouse as you suggest, but the problem I have is because I do not have a waist at all skirts trousers rise up and end up under my girls! It is so frustrating.

    I had a jump suit on on Saturday night that has a lovely elastic/gold metal belt and the belt kept ending up under the girls and to be honest I was mortified it kept happening, I felt terrible. I should have just worn the jump suit and jacket without the belt.

    Anyways, thank you for getting back to me, I will try to stop buying shapless smocks and try for wrap overs again.

    I have been going through menopause for 6 years now night sweats hot flushes are unbearable I have tried everything I can not take HRT I have tried it a few times and all I did was scratch my face off.

    I didn't really want to say this but I have tried to take my life a few times I have my reasons but getting back to the menopause I have tried everything spent a fortune nothing works now I only leave my house if I really have to it's hard for me to exercise because I suffer from severe pain down my legs and lower back to the point I have to use a stick a lot of the time I am 55 years old and menopause started when I was about 47/48 I feel my life is not worth living hope you can help

    Thank you for sharing your story.

    I'm so sorry that you are feeling so low. It's exhausting when you feel as if nothing you do is helping and although I'm fairly sure that you must feel as if no-one understands or is listening to what you're going through, I'm also sure other women on the forum, will recognise the feelings and symptoms you describe so well.

    Before I try to address the menopause issues you are dealing with, I am very, very concerned to read that you have felt suicidal.

    Do you currently feel as if you want to harm yourself, or have you done anything to harm yourself?

    If so - please immediately dial 999 and ask for help.

    The best thing you can do right now is talk to someone....

    If you are feeling suicidal and need to talk, you can reach out to these organisations. I would encourage you to do so.

    We all need help from time to time - and the people who take the calls can offer you support.

    Breathing Space on 0800 83 85 87 (24 hours at weekends, Fri–Mon 6pm–6am and Mon–Thurs 6pm–2am)

    Samaritans on 116 123 (24 hours, 7 days a week)

    Did you know that menopause clinics exist? Have you ever asked to be referred to one for more help with your symptoms?

    A menopause clinic specialises in everything menopause related. If you feel as if you've exhausted all avenues with your GP you can ask to be referred. You do need to be referred by your GP (fingers crossed that there is a clinic in your area) but you will probably have to ask for that referral! And you shouldn't be afraid to ask! You deserve to be able to access the help you need. I'll pop a link at the bottom of this reply for you to search for one in your area. There are NHS ones, but there are also private clinics if the budget stretches that far. I would try searching just for NHS first. I certainly didn't have the budget for private! If there is one and travel/distance is an issue - you can ask about a phone or "attend anywhere" consultation which is a bit like a skype call!

    If you have a look around the forum, you'll find lots of discussions about all-sorts of symptoms. I find it helps me to feel less alone with the symptoms I've had. Perhaps you'll be able to find some helpful tips for some of the issues you are experiencing.

    I hope you manage to find something that works - and I would really encourage you to speak to someone about the way you are feeling.
