I recently saw a trichologist who diagnosed androgenic alopecia which is very distressing. Could Estraderm patches be making it worse? What is the best HRT to prevent hair loss?
Thank you for posting on our community.
I am sorry you are experiencing hair loss. I am experiencing some myself when I comb my hair a lot is coming out more than it used to. My hair is so dry now and brittle. I am trying to get more natural products for my hair.
As for the hair loss and HRT, I will tag in our nurse expert and doctor to assist you further. I am sure they can give you some more information.

@IzzyB and thank you @MonicaM for this.
Izzy this is hair loss often due to hormonal changes. Did the Trichologist explain anymore than this? Did they analyse your hair and tell you what hormones you needed? Were deficient in?
What advice or treatment did they give you? Sometimes there can be a genetic link but often stress and age can influence this too.
I would discuss this with your GP and see how blood tests for testosterone, thyroid, vitamins/minerals etc might help?
This sin't an area I know much about but normally refer women to Trichologists.
@Giada Frontino can you advice?
Diane Porterfield Bourne.
All HRT should improve the hair loss.
Most importantly, androgenic alopecia is significantly associated with an abnormal lipid profile and a higher cardiovascular risk, so please check this with your GP. Improving your diet and enriching it with vegetables and fruit, decreasing sugar intake and increasing aerobic physical activity is known to certainly improve hair health. As hair has a long life cycle, you will be able to notice changes in the medium/longterm so patience will be rewarded!
