  • Hi Lara Sorry about your diagnosis but please stay positive. I was originally diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer with secondaries on my liver and lungs. I also have to live with a stoma. About to start my 46th chemo session after having 3 months off, mainly because of Covid 19. I have the view that I need to carry on…
  • Hi Louise Thanks for your comments. As you will appreciate, I believe in facing this disease and treatment head on and I hope that is holding me in good stead. It is not always easy as you know but you have to take the downs with the ups. I am about to start painting my kitchen ceiling, a job I absolutely love!!! but it…
  • Hello everybody Sorry that I have been missing for quite some time but I have been trying to get on with my life and I have been very busy. Since early 2019, I have been to Tenerife and to Crete twice, although the second time was a disaster. My wife had a fall and fractured her pelvis in 3 places, so I was her full time…
  • Hi Lou Thanks for that, much appreciated. I was having chemo at Preston Rosemere Cancer Centre yesterday and spoke to 2 first time patients who were, understandably apprehensive. Told them about my journey with chemo and how I handled it, plus I showed them my odd socks which come fron The Odd Sock Company - the seemed…
  • Hi there, I have just had my 29th session of chemo. Whilst I am not happy about it, it has not been a major issue in itself, as side effects in my case have been fairly minor. Good job I like a short nap on a regular basis. Over the past 26 months, I have just got on with life. Replaced cladding, fascias and gutters on my…
  • Hi Nice to hear from you again. Forgot to say that I am now on chemo 27 in total. Getting a bit fed up with it but, if it doing what is intended, it's a small price to pay. Also, I have got 8 rolls of wallpaper for our breakfast area and the kitchen plus, God forbid, paper for the ceiling. Does chemo actually make you…
  • Hello everyone. Sorry I have been out of touch with you all for a while, but have been getting on with my life (and cancer which is bit of a bu....). Had a good holiday in Tenerife in early May, in fact enjoyed it so much, we went to Crete for 18 days at the end of June and we are going back again at the end of September…
  • Hi Rob Hopefully, Tenerife will give us the opportunity to recharge the batteries after several difficult weeks. Have been 5 times before so we know where we are going. Jersey sounds good and, yes, the weather forecast is good. Back in early May and then my job's list will need to be addressed. Cheers Peter
  • Thank you. Will be in touch again very soon. Peter
  • Hello Lou Trip to the tip was amusing. One of the staff was having his lunch and under no circumstance would he stop to assist. The second guy was walking around with a stick in his hand and claimed be busy. So I just unloaded my old floor slowly and threw it into the skips. Took me just under 30 minutes and I came home…
  • Thanks Lou I feel much better now and my cat has stopped me from doing anything as she has settled down with me on my chair and she has gone to sleep. I can't move now so will watch TV. Chemo will now be when we get back from Tenerife, good news as far as I am concerned. Gives my body a bit of respite and recovery time.…
  • Hi Lou The bedding plants are growing in our conservatory, bit like Kew Gardens at present, but it is much too cold to put them out. Had a bit of a setback last week. I was due for my 11th chemotherapy session in this cycle, but my blood decided not to play ball. My neutrophils, white blood cells and something else…
  • Rob Plant Sterols are entirely natural and no side effects. I know several people who have stopped stations for sterols and are more than happy with the results. Keep eating chocolate!! Peter
  • Thanks Lou Looking forward to Tenerife but one session of chemo first. Planning what to do when we get back but only have 6 weeks then are off to Crete for 18 days. Think the garden will take priority as we have about 450 bedding plants on the go. I am also planning to replace all the doors in our bungalow - bit of a…
  • Thanks Rob. Like the idea of chocolate, sounds good. On a side issue connected with chocolate, my GP chastised me because she said it raised your bad cholesterol and mine was 6.7 and she wanted to put me on stations. I asked my oncologist and she said a definite no. So I found natural Plant Sterols which I bought through…
  • Thank you. Your comments are appreciated. Perhaps it is time I accepted my limitations and rested a bit more. Going to Tenerife in 2 weeks so that should help. Keep smiling. Peter
  • Hi everybody I am on cycle 10 of 12 and about to embark on 11 next Thursday. My current problem is severe tiredness made worse by a head cold and sinusitis. Does anybody have any ideas for reducing the effects of tiredness - keeping falling asleep does not really help, particularly as my wife keeps on going. My kitchen…
  • Robert Thanks for that, it is appreciated. I just take the view that I have little choice so I just get on with it. Thinking about replacing the doors in my house next but got a bit of a shock when I saw the cost. Having a disturbed night at present so just sat here with a brew and my little cat (best mate). Best wishes…

  • Hi Jackie Well done yourself, keep up the good work. I bought 10 bags of potting compost and 4 bags of top soil yesterday. Have got 460 plug plants to pot up, 6 tubs of potatoes. 2 tubs of carrots and 2 tubs of peas. We are going to be busy! Seeing my Consultant in the morning for 6 weekly check (have a Nurse led…

  • Thanks Robert. I appreciate your comments. I am trying to keep busy and have just ripped up the laminate floor in the kitchen - will start laying the new floor tomorrow (hopefully) as I am on chemo now and my pump comes off tomorrow. My view is do what you can, when you can and rest a bit in between. Cheers, Peter
  • I have been on chemotherapy for bowel cancer since mid 2017, with a number of short breaks. I am about to start cycle 21. I am finding that the roll up effects are now getting much more significant. I have 7 or 8 days of extreme energy loss, then a slow build up of energy for 5 or 6 days, then the am back on chemotherapy…
  • Jackie Thank you for your comments. I am also on Folfox via a PICC Line following my sessions at Preston Rosemere Cancer Centre. About to go on cycle 20 and beginning to slow down a bit but still getting on with life (off to Tenerife at the end of April). I think I will restart my Plant Sterols when my pump comes down at…
