I just need some advice about working. I work for a cleaning company&was told to stay home to day but I've now been told I need to go back to work tomorrow but I'm very concerned about the risks due to having cancer 4 times. I'm also still on my tamoxifen&finished chemo last april. Am I classed as high risk. Any information on this will be much appreciated.

    Morning Sharyn,

Apologies for not replying to you sooner, your are posting in the right place.

The news reports have been changing everyday, but the most recent was that only key workers should be going into a workplace. Unless the cleaning company is contracted to clean hospitals etc I would be questioning whether you should be going in. I have tagged you in the discussion giving Coronavirus updates, it was too long to add in here.

I am not an expert of course, but I have tagged Liz our oncology nurse in this chat as she may have more insight on the level of risk you are subject to given your medical history. @LizzyB73 .

Of course I would suggest you contact your medical team by phone to clarify if possible.

Please take care and stay as safe as you possibly can.

    Lou x

    thanks for getting in touch

Being on tamoxifen does not affect your level of immunity and as you have been off chemo for nearly a year I would be confident that your blood cells would have returned to a normal level.

However, I do agree with Lou and the advice that only those who’s work is a necessity should be going in at this time

I wish you well and hope this helps

    best wishes

Hi lou&liz. Thankyou both for you replies. I have spoken to my medical team earlier today&the advice was to self isolate due to my underlying health issues,I also had the same advice from my gp surgery but it was left upto me which I am self isolating now as from today as I just dont want to take any unnecessary risks.
