Polycythemia Vera

KennyKenny Posts: 1

Hi Diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera 2014 a rare blood cancer which thickens the blood which leaves us susceptible to blood clotting and strokes. Chemotherapy tablets daily along with a host of other tablets make it manageable.Side effects include varices in the oesophagus, fatigue, insomnia, bone pain, enlarged spleen and weakened immune system. As a cancer I am lucky it can be managed but there is a high risk of changing to leukaemia. Be interested to hear from others.

    Hi Kenny,

A very warm welcome to you!

It sounds as though you have a lot of things to contend with and things to watch out for with the cancer you have. I haven’t heard of that, even though it is being treated to manage it, I can imagine that being very tiring, and the fatigue and other effects increasingly difficult.

It’s great you have found us here, I hope you will soon get to know us. There are lots of people who chat, and everyone is really friendly. We just try and support one another in whatever way we can.

    Chat soon,

    Lou x
