    Hi Sarah,

Welcome to the forum, although I am sorry you find yourself here as your mother is unwell.

I was unsure whether you meant you were draining fluid from a surgery site, or your mom has fluid on her lung from something else?

I would suggest you contact her medical team to discuss with them in the first instance.

I am not a specialist in these matters but I would imagine any fluid on the lungs would cause more difficulty in breathing, simply because the oxygen is not filling the lung due to the fluid.

I am a breast cancer patient and I have not suffered from this, only with fluid build up post-op.

Please keep in touch let me know how you mother is getting on, I hope you get some good answers from her medical team to help you.

    Chat soon,

    Lou x
